Summer Weddings Flashback Part 2.

Last week I blogged part one of my Summer Flashback feature, looking back at Weddings I shot over the summer months of June, July & August 2013.
This week part two looks at me on the road shooting Weddings all over the north of England from The Lakes to West Yorkshire.

Katie & James Tait, North Yorkshire, 3rd August:
Katie & James were married at The Grove Methodist Church in Horsforth before moving on to the grand surroundings at Ripley Castle. This was a great location and I was able to shoot beautiful scenes with Katie & James all around the castles grounds in the beaming sunshine of mid summer. On the evening a huge party awaited at the castle with live music and plenty of dancing to finish off the day.

Kelly & Dean Smith, Newmillerdam Country Park, 10th August:
Kelly & Dean were married at Hotel St.Pierre just round the corner from the scenic location of Newmillerdam Country Park. The newly-wed couple took a walk alongside the lake with Bridesmaids and Ushers in tow to get a unique collection of photographs. Although Kelly's feet nearly fell off due to all the walking in heels we got some really great shots through the park, ones that will long outlast the memory of her soar feet!

Charlotte & Martin Scotson, The Lake District, 27th August:
Charlotte & Martin choose New House Farm in Lorton as their venue which was a great backdrop for the day. Although the weather was our enemy in parts, we stuck to our guns and went up into the surrounding hills to get some dramatic shots overlooking Crummock Water.
Karen Rhodes Catering served up the Wedding Breakfast with the fantastic idea of volunteering guests from each table to be head chef and carve up the meat to serve to the others before it was all washed down with drinks and music to end a great day.

Summer Weddings Flashback Part 1.

With winter now upon us and Christmas just around the corner I decided to do a two part blog feature looking back at some of the truly great Weddings I captured out in the sunshine of summer 2013.

Vicki & David Martin, York 26th June:
We start Part 1. with Vicki & David's wedding on a bright Wednesday afternoon in York. Vicki & Dave's Wedding was a low key event with a select few family and friends. This close knit group's laughing and joking over beers and wine made for a truly a unique atmosphere.

Vicky & Dave were really keen to get some photos of themselves walking down York's famous Shambles and I think the results worked out perfectly:

Katy & Stef Bahlaj, Ios Island, Greece 15th June:
This wedding was a fantastic opportunity to shoot abroad which I actually blogged about earlier in the year. You can check out the full story here: A Greek Wedding, Ios Island

Jodi & Louis Moore, Scarborough 27th July:
Jodi & Louis choose the scenic venue of Ox Pasture Hall, just on the edge of the North York Moors. Jodi & Louis were lucky enough to be married outside on a blazing hot day that left me badly sunburnt (but happy to be so). They were also able to bring along their beloved dog Bailey to join in the celebrations and Jodi's summery colour scheme summed up what was a vibrant, fun day:

Look out for Part 2. next week with weddings at the stunning venues of Ripley Castle, Newmillerdamn Country Park and The Lake District....

A Fireworks Night Wedding

With a running theme over the last few weeks of looking back at my archive of Weddings on commemorative days, today I'm looking back at Angi & Jon's Wedding on Guy Fawkes Night 2011.

I know Angi & Jon personally and it can sometimes be a tricky task to juggle being part of the Wedding Party while also trying to be the Wedding Photographer too, however I'm glad to say I managed to join the celebrations as a friend while also producing a great set of memorable images from the day.

As well as a highlight of stills I also put together a slideshow of their favourite images sound-tracked with one of their favourite bands Blur and the song 'You're so Great' which you can see below.

Happy 2nd Anniversary Angi & Jon!!

A Halloween Wedding

This time last year I was shooting an intimate Halloween themed Wedding for the lovely couple of Avi & Brian Larder at the stunning Jacobean manor of Holdsworth House.
With black as colour of the day and place names such as 'Corpse Bride' & 'Maid of Horror' this spooky theme didn't stop the party with smiles and laughter all afternoon.

Here's a reflection on Avi & Brian's day which makes me wish I could shoot Weddings on Halloween every year.

A new Wedding Album supplier - Folio Albums

I made these albums available to clients a little while ago and with Wedding Fayre season already in full effect I've been displaying them on my exhibition stalls too. With that in mind I have desperately been trying to find time to get them up on the website for everyone to see in all their glory.

Now I can proudly announce the 'offiical' arrival of Folio Albums to 83Weddings. These gorgeous, hand crafted albums are made in my very own adopted home of Yorkshire by a eco-friendly company who's environmental policies and ethos match my very own.

Even after attempting to portray these albums as best I can nothing beats seeing them with your own eyes. Available in a multitude of coloured leathers, cottons or sliks (all ethically sourced) this will be a memento with a real 'wow-factor'.

For more info or to book an appointment to see them for yourself please contact: robin@83photography.co.uk

Kiss The Bride Magazine - Bridal Style Show

I was kindly asked by the lovely people at Kiss The Bride Magazine if I could shoot the catwalk show at their Bridal Style Show at Wynyard Rooms last Sunday.
Having not shot any 'catwalk photography' before I did have to think on my feet a little but came away with some good shots of the beautiful models and the stunning dresses they were displaying.

A Greek Wedding, Ios Island:

In 2012 I was offered the fantastic opportunity of shooting a wedding abroad so naturally I jumped at the chance!
The couple were Stefan & Katy who incidentally, (in this small world) only lived round the corner from my parent's house in Middlesbrough, making it easy to pop over for cups of tea and planning of the big trip.

Fast forward to June of this year and I was on my way to the quaint little Greek Island of of Ios with a motley crew of wedding guests for a memorable weekend of sun and fun which I was happy to regard as work.
All of the guests made me feel like one of the wedding party, inviting me to meals and for nights out and I truly made some good friends, as well as gaining interest from other future brides looking to plan their very own special day.

Stef & Katy's wedding took place on 15th June 2013 on Ios Island and this is their story....

Vintage Wedding Fair with Kiss The Bride Magazine

So, yesterday was my first ever Wedding Fair and I honestly didn't know what to expect...... but I am happy to say it was a great success!
I was really pleased with the level of interest and response we got at the 83Weddings stall, as well as getting the chance to meet lots of other lovely suppliers.

After a hectic Saturday getting our last few bits for the stall and doing a mock set-up on my Mums living room floor we were ready. Sunday morning soon came and despite our late night run through, Grace (my other half) and I were still on a learning curve while setting up, which included a last minute dash into Yarm for fresh flowers courtesy of Diana Kaye Florist, but we got there in the end.

Kiss The Bride did a great job on the day and the organisation was spot on, with refreshments and cake for guests and the lovely venue of Worsall Village Hall which in itself attracted a lot of interest from perspective brides and grooms (including ourselves). All-in-all it was well worth all the effort and I can't wait for the next one.

When I got a moment to get away from the stall I grabbed a few pics of the fair which you can take a look at below:

Every supplier we met was so friendly and straight away we felt like part of the wedding fair community, here's a few to check out if you're looking for other ideas and wedding suppliers:
